Step 1 in Creating a ConOps: Create a Working Group

First step in creating a Concept of Operations: Create a Working Group

A ConOps cannot be created by one individual or one group because this document is attempting to define the operating environment from the perspective of multiple users and each user must be represented.

Therefore the working group is made up of a cross functional team to define the ConOps. The group should be comprised of:

  • Central Control Operators - the eyes and ears who control the entire system.

  • Train Drivers - drive the trains along the track

  • Maintenance Personnel - maintain the system and troubleshoot problems when they arise

  • Instructors - train the Operators' personnel

  • Network Maintainers - Maintain the wired and wireless network

  • Engineers - Operator's engineers who understand and maintain the existing signalling system

  • CBTC experts - Engineers with experience deploying CBTC technologies.

Each representative will bring their perspective to the group and define what the Operator’s need from the CBTC system to deliver service to the riding public.
